Pieter Christiaan Cornelis Dommersen
(1834-1928)

Pieter Dommersen who was also known as Dommelshuizen or Dommelshuijzen or Dommerson was born in Holland in 1834 and died in 1928.

He was a painter of genre scenes, animal landscapes, cityscapes and marine paintings.

While Dommersen was born in Holland, where he actively exhibited and painted, he was also very active in London, England. He exhibited at the Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street, at the British Institution, and most notably at the Royal Academy from 1865 to 1878.

Dommersen had a distinct style in his animated street scenes and in his coveted seascapes and seaside paintings.  Dommersen, painted scenes in Northern France as well, but it is his exquisite Dutch village and coastal scenes that brought him to fame.

His paintings can today be found in prominent public and private collections worldwide.
