Delapoer Downing was born in London, England sometime in the mid 1800’s. He was a painter of figures and domestic subjects.

Downing began to exhibit at the major London venues in 1885 and continued to do so through 1902. He exhibited at The Royal Academy (titles included “On Tour in the Provinces” and “Tempting”), The Royal Society of British Artists and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.

Elsewhere, he exhibited at The Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and The Manchester City Art Gallery, Manchester.

Downing died sometime after 1902.
