WILLIAM WILLIAMS OF PLYMOUTH
British (1808-1895)

William Williams of Plymouth was born at Perryn, Cornwall, England in 1808. He was a painter of river scenes, landscapes and coastal scenes. He moved to Plymouth at an early age and stayed there until his death.

Little is known of this artist; however, his paintings are highly sought after when they do appear on the art market, especially his larger canvases.

One of his paintings, “Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery,” circa 1836 hangs at The Royal William Victualling Yard at Plymouth and was acquired through Christie’s in 1994 funded by a Royal grant.

William Williams died in 1895.
