ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Marcel Dreyfus Dyf was born in Paris, France on October 7, 1899. He was a figure, genre, still life and landscape painter. During his youth he showed a marked ability for painting and, at the age of 23, he devoted himself entirely to art.
Dyf was heavily influenced by Renoir, and exhibited quite successfully at the Salon des Artistes Francais, the Salon d'Automore and the Salon des Tuileries. He also exhibited at the famous Petrides Gallery in Paris. Through these exhibits he met Frost and Reed of London, who represented him during most of his career. Due to this relationship, Dyf began to exhibit not only in Paris, but in London, New York, Dallas, San Francisco and many other international cities.
Marcel Dyf died in Bois-d'Arcy, France on September 15, 1985. Today, his works can be found in important public and private collections worldwide, including at the Smith Museum of Art in Northhampton, Massachusetts and at the Musee Arlaten in Arles, France.
